Farm Shares

Our 2024 Farm Shares are now open! We are accepting inquiries now; please drop us a line on our Contact Page.

What is a farm share?

Sometimes called “community-supported agriculture” (CSA), farm share programs connect you directly with local farmers and farms like ours. Members get a weekly share of fresh, local, in-season produce, and farmers get the early season security of guaranteed buyers for their crops. The contents of the share change every week depending on what’s in season and ready for harvest.

Our program

Our 2024 program will run for 18 weeks, from Friday June 14 and until Friday October 11. Shares include a variety of vegetables, and herbs, with a few additional goodies included depending on the weather. Members receive a weekly newsletter with the list of share items, storage and preparation tips, recipes.

Weekly pick-ups are at the farm in Winchester on Fridays from 3-6pm. We will try our best to accommodate vacations and other special situations in advance, and may be able to deliver your share if needed.

2024 Pricing

This season we are offering both a full share (6-10 items per week) and a half share (4-6 items per week). The full share price is $630/season, equivalent to $35/week). The half share price is $378, equivalent to $21/week.

Through a program with CT NOFA (see below), we expect also to be able to offer discounted weekly farm shares to families in Winsted in need of assistance.

Early Bird Special: Commit to a full share by January 31 and we will be pleased to offer you a credit of $35 to redeem for additional veggies during the season!

Make a donation.

We are registered with the CT NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) “Farm Share” program that reduces the cost of a share for Winchester families in need of assistance. You can make a tax-deductible donation to CT NOFA to help underwrite up to four of our 2023 farm shares. Donations of any amount are welcome! $500 would entirely fund one share.

CT NOFA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

 FAQs

  • How many / what kind of vegetables are in the full- and half shares?

Using our 2023 season as an example, a full share in mid-June included 8 items: the basics, plus a few specialty items:

    Mixed Salad Greens (1 bag)

    Arugula (1 bag)

    Spring Turnips (1 bunch)

    French Breakfast Radishes (1 bunch)

    Bok Choy (2 large heads)

    Curly Green Kale (1 bunch)

    Cilantro (1 bunch)

Basil (1 live potted 3.5” plant)

A half share would have included 4 items, the basics:

    Mixed Salad Greens (1 bag)

    Arugula (1 bag)

    Spring Turnips (1 bunch)

    French Breakfast Radishes (1 bunch)

  • We have a Trade Box at the weekly pick-up, where you can exchange items in your share for items in the box. Otherwise, the share is the same for all members and we do not substitute items.

We also offer additional items for cash or Venmo sale each week; so you can supplement your share on an ad hoc basis.

  • If you are unable to pick up your share, we are not able to refund you the cost. You are welcome to send a friend or neighbor in your absence! Sometimes, too, we are able to hold your share for a few days so you can pick it up later.
